About the Exhibition

Flemish Primitives – Netherlandish Painters

A concentrated, room-by-room reconsideration of the first forty years of oil painting in the Burgundian Netherlands. The centrepiece is a newly acquired double portrait attributed to Petrus Christus, on public view here for the first time.

Scientific imaging and a dedicated in-gallery research station present the results of four years of technical study carried out in partnership with the Netherlands Institute for Conservation, Art and Science.
